Short head\u2014 accelerate knee flexion and tibial external rotation.<\/li>\n<li>Reverse mover action: contralateral rotation, ipsilateral elevation, and posteior tilt of pelvis. Thigh flexion, medial rotation.<\/li>\n<li>Eccentric action: Long head\u2014decelerates knee extension, hip flexion, and tibial internal\/medial rotation. Short head\u2014 accelerate knee flexion and tibial external rotation.<\/li>\n<li>Isometric action: stabilization of lumbo-pelvic hip complex and knee.<\/li>\n<li>Innervation: tibial nerve from sciatic.<\/li>\n<li>Arterial supply: Long head\u2014inferior gluteal artery, perforating branches of deep femoral artery, obturator artery.
