This philosophy arose from the Japanese car manufacturing industries.

Integrative Wellness and Movement (IWM) is re-introducing this idea of “kaizen”. I started this back in 2013/2014. IWM’s “kaizen” is embracing small, continuous, meaningful improvements in body, mind, & spirit. This can be applied to any aspect of life like family, career, etc.

Self-efficacy is one’s belief in oneself to have the capacity to follow through and execute something.

For example, I am going to set 3 goals for myself. If I have a high self-efficacy, then I know I’m going to get those 3 goals accomplished–it’s as good as done. High self-efficacy is something we’re striving for. The goals need to be “tiny steps” or bite-sized so that you know that you’re going to get them done this week. On a self-efficacy scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest self-efficacy rating, “good as done”), aim for 9-10.

If you’re writing out your goals with some personal reflection, and your self-efficacy rating is 1-8, then you need to further break down your goals until your self-efficacy is 9 or 10. Studies have shown that a rating lower than 9-10 means that the goal/task is less likely to be accomplished. BE KIND TO YOURSELF!

IWM is restarting our weekly kaizen handout, a weekly goals sheet with quotes & space to write down what you want to focus on each week. You can download and print it out. These sheets were designed for black/white/grayscale printing so that you can save ink (no need to print in color).

I hope you find these helpful! These are the exact same sheets that I use with my coaching clients.

Kaizen Archives 2020:

01192020 Kaizen PDF

01262020 Kaizen PDF

Download current worksheet: 01262020 Kaizen PDF Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy meaning continuous improvement or regularly striving for improvement every day.
